The names of students meeting academic success are published quarterly with the following designations. Any failing grade disqualifies a student from the Honor Roll.
4.0 GPA or higher | Mark of Excellence |
3.50 – 3.999 | Superior |
3.00 – 3.499 | Honors |
Sophomores, juniors and seniors who have attained a 3.6 cumulative grade point average (GPA) through the third quarter of the academic year earn an Academic Letter in recognition of their outstanding efforts. The first-year award is an Academic Letter which has the same design as the LCC Athletic Letter except the colors are reversed and the word Academics is stitched across the top. The second-year award is a silver pin, and the third-year award is a gold pin. The Thunderbird Parent Club hosts a celebration for students and their parents during the fourth quarter to present the awards.
Any student who earns an academic letter is eligible to participate in the Career Mentorship Program.
In the fall of each year, juniors and seniors who have achieved a cumulative 3.7 GPA or higher and have attended LCC for at least one semester will be notified of their eligibility to apply for membership in the National Honor Society.
