Calamity Days Update: LCC has used its 5th calamity day. Moving forward, if we cancel anymore days students will be expected to attend classes remotely, meaning they will not come to campus but will log into their email or Google classroom for posted assignments. Assignments will be posted by 10:00am on the day of the cancellation. It is the students responsibility to complete all assignments and meet deadlines as though they were in class. By going remote on “snow days,” we will not be forced to make up days later in the school year.

Today we are celebrating our sixth annual One Day of Giving! Thanks to matching funds provided by generous donors we are able to have this momentous day that supports our annual fund. The annual fund helps bridge the gap between the actual cost to educate a student and the amount we charge for tuition.
This day is about coming together as one community for LCC. You can donate online at https://lcchscause.wpengine.com/product/dayofgiving/ , call 419-222-4276, or stop by our new drop off window near the main doors of the school. T-Bird Fans,
We have been informed that an OHSAA inspector will be present at tomorrow night's game v. Arlington. They have sent a checklist of items on which we will be evaluated, and we are asking your full cooperation with these items:
1) Masks must be worn by all spectators at all times, not just when walking in and out of the stadium.
2) Sit only in the allowed areas in groups of no more than four (or more only if from same household). Rows with a red X on the ends of rows are off limits. Avoid seats with the red tape in the other rows.
3) Maintain 6 feet social distancing and do not congregate before, during and after the game. Please exit the stadium immediately after the game.
4) Follow all instructions on signage with regards to entering and exiting the bleachers
5) Respect the employees and volunteers tasked with monitoring and enforcing event guidelines.
Strict adherence to the Governor's Order and Health Dept. guidelines are part of what is required by OHSAA member schools. Please help us ensure the future of the kids' seasons by doing your part!!

“If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” — Sandy Dahl, wife of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl.
On Sept. 11, 2001, America was forever changed. It has been 19 years since the attacks, but that tragic day, which served as a true test of the American spirit, will be remembered always.
So on this day, we honor the value of life, those we loved and lost, our country’s resilience, and the strength of the American spirit.

To help acclimate students and staff to some of the changes in procedures and policies we will have transition days. On August 11th and 12th, we will have students come by grade for part of a day. New procedures and policies will be discussed in order to answer questions and ease as many concerns as possible. Your student should attend the designated time (information will be forthcoming) in order to safely begin school on Thursday, August 13th (please note this is also an early dismissal day). In the event that we receive guidance from state and local officials that this becomes necessary, our calendar may be adjusted accordingly.

Late last week, Governor DeWine announced back to school health and safety guidelines for all school districts across Ohio. LCC, alongside our Catholic Elementary schools are currently reviewing those guidelines. As a Catholic community, we have been planning and preparing for multiple scenarios to safely welcome students and staff back.
We will be reviewing the latest information from the governor so we can meet the requirements set forth in these guidelines. Once we know more, we will share more details.

As we all prepare to reconnect to our Catholic lives, albeit still in an extraordinary way, I would like to invite you to engage with those who are awaiting the reception of a Sacrament in an extraordinary way. Many of the first communicants, the confirmandi, the elect, and the candidates experienced an abrupt change or even end to their preparation for the reception of these respective sacraments. Therefore, please consider wholeheartedly advocating participation in a Novena to the Holy Spirit to all those that you serve in ministry and especially to those whose formation was truncated. We pray that this novena prepares each of us for the gifts of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and particularly for those awaiting sacraments that the Spirit will teach and remind us of all that Christ has told us (cf. John 14:26).
To encourage participation, we are also promoting a Red Ribbon Campaign. The red ribbons are a visible sign of our anticipation, excitement, and unity. The goal is to cover Northwest Ohio in red ribbons by simply tying one on your front door, mailbox, a tree in your yard, etc. on Friday, May 22nd, the first day of the novena, through Saturday, May 30th. Videos will be posted daily on social media and the Reconnect webpage, additional resources for the novena can also be found at this link: https://reconnecttoledo.squarespace.com/pentecost

Today we would normally be celebrating Mass as a community with our Tbirds. As we find ourselves in this extraordinary circumstance of being unable to publicly celebrate mass and the Eucharist, you may be left wondering what can we do?
Always remember, God is everywhere and He always hears your prayers.
Below is a traditional prayer of spiritual communion that many saints have prayed over the years. It can be prayed in those times you find yourself unable to receive the Eucharist, or even in the midst of your daily life, lifting up your thoughts to God.
The ultimate goal of our lives should be communion with God and an act of spiritual communion can help us draw closer to that goal.

Of all the programs offered at LCC, retreats are among the most important and most intricate. LCC has implemented a 4 year retreat program designed to provide a natural progression that coincides with experiences throughout high school.
A retreat can often be one of the most powerful tools at our disposal for bringing students to a face-to-face encounter with the very real presence of God in their lives. They are an essential and necessary part of the LCC faith life allowing students to take the time to consider the truly important aspects of life.
In 36 days, our seniors will leave for their last retreat with us, Kairos. This retreat gives seniors an opportunity to experience where Christ is their lives and where God will be after high school. We remind students that they are perfectly made by God and to experience Him in a deep and personal way. They are then asked to “Live the Fourth” which is truly the rest of their lives. It is our goal that our students will have had a deeper encounter in their Christian life, thereby building on the formation we instill daily in the classroom.
We will be sharing a daily quote from our last 8 Kairos retreats to give you a glimpse of the amazing experiences and revelations our students have on this retreat.

Last year the Class of 1988 prevailed but the Class of 2018 followed closely behind, who will earn the title GREATEST CLASS during this year's One Day of Giving? Mark your calendars! We are just 30 days away!

SATURDAY: Celebrating Families
Parents, guardians and other family members play a vital role in Catholic education. Not only do they volunteer at our school, they instill values and expectations for academic excellence in their children at home. We acknowledge the role of families in Catholic education and celebrate their contributions to the success of our school on the last day of National Catholic Schools Week, and all year long!

FRIDAY: Celebrating Faculty, Staff and Volunteers
On this day, we will honor teachers, principals, administrators and staff. We thank the parents, grandparents, alumni, parishioners and school board members who provide volunteer service!

THURSDAY: Celebrating Vocations
By focusing on faith, knowledge and service, Catholic schools prepare children to use their God-given talents to the fullest later in life. National Catholic Schools Week offers an opportunity for students to explore the many life paths that enable them to use their talents well in the service of God and others — by answering the call to a religious vocation, by nurturing a family through sacramental marriage, by volunteering in church activities and charities, and/or by pursuing a career that makes the world a better place.

WEDNESDAY: Celebrating the Nation
On National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools, students, families, educators and other Catholic school supporters communicates the value of Catholic education to government leaders. They share information with leaders on the significant contributions Catholic schools make to the nation and their role in preparing students to be good citizens. They pray for the nation and recognize all those who serve it. The schools will come together and we will celebrate Mass together as one Catholic community today at 9:30am in the New Gym. All are invited to join us!

Due to temperatures, wind chill warning & most importantly, the safety of our students, LCC will be closed and there will be no athletic practices on Wednesday, January 30th. Stay safe & warm T-Birds!

TUESDAY: Celebrating Our Students
Today we celebrate our students by showing our appreciation and recognizing their accomplishments! We encourage students to reflect on the benefits of Catholic education and how the grounding in faith, knowledge and service it provides will help them throughout their lives.

MONDAY: Celebrating Your Community
A central aspect of Catholic education is learning the importance of service to others. When students take part in service activities—both local and beyond—they demonstrate the values and faith they gain through their Catholic education and learn how to make the world a better place. When they observe how others serve the community, they gain an appreciation for how they can continue to serve others their entire lives. Check out a glimpse of what our LCC community has been involved in over the past year!

SUNDAY: CELEBRATE YOUR PARISH
Catholic schools benefit all year long from the religious guidance, prayers and support parishes provide. Our area parishes join in the National Catholic Schools Week celebration by devoting a Mass to Catholic education today!

We have had some great scores from Mu Alpha Theta students lately on math contests. Last week, Joe Chen got a 5 o the 4th Ohio Math League while Daisy Zhang and Jack Zerante both scored a 4.
