¡Bienvenidos! I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where I went to a Catholic elementary school and a public high school. I participated in sports, theatre and community activities, French Club and Travel Club. I went to The Ohio State University, where I majored in French and German education. I studied abroad in both France and Germany. In addition to taking classes, I lived with local families, where I learned about their culture and traditions. I taught French in New Hope, AL, Atlanta, GA and Columbus, OH. When school districts needed more Spanish teachers, I went back to the Ohio State University to get my license in Spanish. I went to México several times and took classes for two quarter at la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, one quarter at la Universidad de Guanajuato and several short classes at independent language schools in Guatemala and México. In addition to taking classes, I lived with local families, including indigenous families. I also taught English in a small, Mayan school in San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala. These experiences were priceless! I got to know the people, the history and the culture. After finishing my studies, I taught Spanish at Springfield Local Schools. As much as I’ve liked schools where I’ve worked and learned from that experience, I missed being in Catholic schools, their character, their values, and their community. I have accepted the job here at Lima Central Catholic and am very happy to be part of your community. After spending a great deal of time in Mexico and Guatemala, I have brought many authentic items and knowledge into my classroom. I truly hope to provide exciting, interesting and productive classes!
