The 30 Hour Famine

The 30 Hour Famine was held on Saturday November 5-6, 2005 at LCC and had around 20 participants. Its purpose was to be simulation of a famine. Students built homes with cardboard to simulate poverty and ate nothing during the thirty hours. Adoration was held at midnight. Students did service at the human society and sang for the elderly of Outlook Pointe. Several speakers gave speeches to the students including Mr. Schoenhofer who spoke on the Zimbabwe Missions, Sister Pamela Marie Buganski who spoke on the Papua New Guinea missions and Sister Pat Dorobek who described the feeling of the church in Rome. They also wrote letters to children of third world countries about their devotion to helping them. $397.00 was raised and donated to the World Vision Organization for hunger relief.
