LCC Academic Booster Club

Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, October 18, 2011 - 12:30 p.m.

 

Members Present: Dean Brinkman, Sharon Frankart, Sheryl Huffman, Martha Kahle, Kathy Kidd, and Danette Swick.

 

I.  Call to Order and Prayer – President, Sheryl Huffman called the meeting to order at 12:38 p.m.   Sheryl led the prayer.

 

II.  Minutes from previous meeting 8/10/11 were reviewed with the change of the date to be 8/16/11. Motion was made by Sharon Frankart, 2nd by Martha Kahle, with minutes approved. Motion carried.

 

III.  Treasurer’s Report – Kathy Kidd reported an ending balance of $7,315.55. Motion was made by Martha Kahle, 2nd by Dean Brinkman. Treasurer's report was approved as submitted. Motion carried. If thank you notes are needed for donations, Kathy will obtain stationary from Sharon Frankart, and Kathy Kidd will write the thank you notes.

 

 IV.  Committee Reports

            A. Communications (website, newsletter, Chimes, display case, Lima News)

    • website - is updated with past minutes, meetings, and officers
    • newsletter - journalism class under Julie Thaxton, is overseeing this document;       Dean Brinkman to send out October newsletter in email format to parents
    • Chimes - information was submitted for the Nov/Dec issue by Danette Swick
    • display case - needs to be updated; Kathy Kidd and Martha Kahle to check status
    • Lima News - Luis Torres, A.P. Scholar ad ran on September 18 - cost was $275

 

            B.  Fundraising

    • Dine-out - paper tents to advertise LCC night at all locations will be reviewed by Martha Kahle.
    • Old Barn Out Back - still would like to continue
    • Captain Dee's - still would like to continue
    • Happy Daz - change in format this year; receipts must be collected in a box at Happy Daz which was supplied by Martha Kahle or turned into the business office.
    • Chipotle might be an avenue to host the remaining Tuesday. Martha Kahle to investigate.

 

C. Teacher Appreciation (Parent-teacher conference meal)

·         Thursday, November 10 - Martha to coordinate; soups, subs, and desserts

 

D. Renaissance Festival- Saturday, December 10

·         Sharon Frankart stated that the faculty agreed that the price of tickets should remain the same as last year at $20/adults and $10/student. Tickets can be purchased in the business office. Help is needed for:

            Thursday night, Dec. 8 to hang banners

            Friday night, Dec. 9 to set up and decorate

            Sunday morning, Dec. 11 for tear down.

·         Anticipated income of this event is $4,400. Anticipated expenses is $1,930. Anticipated profit is $2,470.

 

V.  Old Business

·         Academic Letter Awards

Inventory has been replenished for 2 years out with the remained monies from Potash utilized.

Sponsor for the next 2 years is Lima Memorial Hospital with the amount of $500/year, not to exceed $500 each year.

·         ACT Prep Class

Information and form is on line at web site. Advertisement is in the Chimes. Dean Brinkman will coordinate with Shawnee schools to put it in their weekly newsletter prior to Christmas break. Limited seats available.

·         State Send-off Coordinator

For now, Martha Kahle will be this person.

 

VI.  New Business

·         Program for November meeting - focus on English department. Dean to coordinate with teachers. Dean Brinkman will ensure all ABC meeting on the master calendar.

·         Teacher allocation letters and forms will be sent out from Sheryl Huffman to Dean Brinkman who will forward to all the teachers. Review of requests will take place in January and March.

           

VII.  Adjournment – Adjourned at 2:00 p.m. Martha Kahle made a motion, 2nd by Dean Brinkman to adjourn.
