LCC Academic Booster Club
Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, September 20, 2011- 7 pm
Members Present: Ann Marie Baumgartner, Marianne Bradshaw, Dean Brinkman, Eric Broughton, Julie Collins, Sheryl Huffman, Martha Kahle, Walt Klimaski, Sharon Frankart, Kathy Kidd, Alicia Schiewiller, Jeanna Stallkamp, Tami Stanford, and Danette Swick.
I. Call to Order and Prayer – President, Sheryl Huffman called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Sharon Frankart led the prayer.
II. Welcome/introduction by Sheryl Huffman. ABC is in its 5th year. Officers were introduced. Objectives and goals of the ABC were reviewed.
III. Regular business meeting was NOT conducted, thus minutes of the previous meeting were not approved and treasurer's report was not discussed or approved.
IV. Program content: LCC's Academic Leaders
- Walt Klimaski, President - discussed student religious retreat, Kairos project, faculty retreat, and improvements to the chapel made by Fr. Tim Ferris.
- Dean Brinkman, Dean of Academics - discussed 5 new teachers (2 english, 2 math, 1 spanish), reviewed various class levels (AP, honors, college classes), answered questions, weekly newsletters will be sent out by him to improve communication, tracks for each department are on the guidance web site, accommodation plans, & flex credit explanation.
- Eric Baumgartner, Academic Affairs Committee Chair - reviewed committee members, discussed climate survey conducted last spring, explained program review of each department that will be conducted this year (is it successful, how to measure, improvements, etc); stay tuned for updates on the web site as minutes of meetings should be available.
V. Announcements
- Sign-up sheets for faculty supper, renaissance festival
- Check out the ABC display case as academic achievements are featured (updated by 2 students - Elizabeth Kahle & Elizabeth Kidd)
