ACADEMIC BOOSTER CLUB

BY-LAWS

 

 

Article I:  Name

 

The name of this non-profit organization shall be the “Lima Central Catholic High School Academic Booster Club”.

 

Article II:  Purpose

 

Section 2.1  MISSION STATEMENT

 

The LCC Academic Booster Club is a partnership among administration, faculty, parents, students and the community which will provide moral and financial support to promote and celebrate academic excellence at LCC. 

 

Section 2.2  VISION

 

LCC is recognized as THE choice for academic excellence in a disciplined environment within a Christ-centered atmosphere.

 

Section 2.3  PURPOSE

 

Specifically, the organization will:

            1.  Promote and recognize academic achievement,

2.  Earn funds to provide faculty support, tools and programs that foster enhanced

                 academic achievement,

            3.  Explore grant opportunities to enhance academic offerings.

           

Article III: Membership

 

Section 3.1  MEMBERSHIP

 

Any parent/guardian, student, faculty or community member specifically interested in the welfare of LCC academic programs may join the LCC Academic Booster Club. 

 

Section 3.2  DUES

 

Membership dues shall be determined annually by the officers.  To be an active/voting member, dues must be paid by September 30 of each school year.

 

Section 3.3  OFFICERS

 

The officers shall consist of president, president-elect, secretary, and treasurer.

 

Section 3.4  ELECTION OF OFFICERS

 

On or before March 15th of each year, the president shall announce on the LCC web site that nominations for officer vacancies are being accepted.  During the April meeting, nominations for officers shall be made from the floor with the candidates' concurrence.  The election of officers shall follow immediately thereafter.  The election shall be by majority vote of the members present.  Each officer shall be elected to a one year term beginning July 1st.  Officers may be re-elected for succeeding years.

 

Section 3.5  OFFICERS’ DUTIES

 

President:  The president shall preside over all Academic Booster Club meetings, fill by appointment all officer vacancies in the event of an officer resignation, and assign committee chairmanships for standing or special committees.

 

President-Elect:  The president-elect shall perform all the duties of the president when he/she is absent or unable to act and will act as the liaison between the Academic Booster Club and the faculty.  The member serving a term as president-elect will assume the role of President in the succeeding school year.

 

Secretary:  The secretary shall maintain a written record of all acts of the club; conduct, receive and dispose of all correspondence; and preserve all reports and documents committed to his/her care.

 

Treasurer:  The treasurer shall maintain a record of all funds received by the Academic Booster Club, shall deposit those funds with the Director of Finance at LCC, and shall prepare an annual financial statement.

 

Article IV: Meetings

 

Section 4.1  MEETINGS

 

The LCC Academic Booster Club shall meet monthly from September through May of each school year.  Special meetings may be called by the president as needed.  Every meeting requires the presence of the principal or his/her designee.

 

Section 4.2  QUORUM

 

For the purpose of transacting official business, there must be a minimum of five (5) members present who are eligible to vote.  Of these five, at least two must be officers.

 

Article V: Committees

 

Section 5.1  STANDING COMMITTEES

 

The Academic Booster Club shall maintain the following standing committees: 

 

Fundraising Committee – develops and implements fundraising opportunities to improve academic excellence at LCC.

 

Grant Writing Committee– investigates grant writing opportunities to enhance academic excellence at LCC.

 

Membership Committee– develops and implements a plan for attracting new members.

 

Communication Committee– develops and implements methods to communicate the goals and activities of the Academic Booster Club with the parents, faculty and community; and implements programs or activities which support and recognize the academic achievements of students and faculty.

 

Allocation Committee – collects all allocation requests, reviews and prioritizes all allocation requests with the principal or his/her designee, and presents the requests to the Academic Booster Club for action.

 

Section 5.2  SPECIAL COMMITTEES

The president shall appoint any special committees as needed.

 

Article VI: Amendments

 

These by-laws may be amended or added to by the affirmative vote of a majority of the officers and members.
