LCC Athletic Eligibility
The administration of LCC recognizes that our school strives toward excellence in all we do. Athletics is an important part of education. A good sports program should support and be a part of the overall educational process. Athletes are taught self-respect, self-discipline, loyalty, dependability, responsibility and the value of hard work in their endeavors.

All athletes are reminded it is a privilege to participate in athletics at LCC, not a right. The administration reminds all athletes that they represent our school in athletic competitions. All athletes are to remember the Christian virtues they have been taught and to put these virtues into practice on the court/field.

Use of Illegal Substances
LCC has adopted the following policy for its students involved in any extra-curricular activity. Students who consume or possess alcohol and or illegal drugs, or are present at an event where alcohol and or illegal drugs are present will be subject to the following sanctions from the school.

  1. The first offense will result in a suspension for 50% of the year's events scheduled for that activity. If less than 50% of the scheduled events remain, the student is suspended for the remainder of the activity.
  2. Students involved in sports may still receive their letter if they meet all the team guidelines for the remainder of the season. This would include, but is not limited to attendance at all practices, games and meetings. The student will not be permitted to dress for games or participate in any pre-game activity.
  3. Any student who wishes to remain in an assigned activity or participate in future activities will be required to complete counseling from an approved therapist. Students who are not actively involved in counseling will not be permitted to take part in extra-curricular activities.
  4. Any student who has a second violation for drugs or alcoholism in a given academic year will be removed from all extra-curricular activities for the remainder of the school year.

Academics
Any athlete failing two or more courses in a two week period will be suspended from practice and competition until the grade is brought up. Also, any athlete failing two or more courses at the end of a quarter will be suspended from the team for two weeks or until written word is received from the teacher that the grade has been brought up, whichever is longer.

Any student who is absent from school, unless legitimately excused by the Administration (ex college visits or off campus excuses) may not participate in practice or competition that day.

Any student who arrives at school after 8:30 A.M. unexcused may not participate in practice or competition that day. Finally any particular rules that the individual coaches may have must be approved by the LCC Athletic Board of Control and be written out for athletes and their parents to see.
