History of LCCHS Lima's four Catholic Parishes organized Lima Central Catholic High School in 1958 under the direction of Bishop George J. Rehring. In its first years, LCC was housed in facilities at St. Rose and St. Gerard parishes. Then, on August 29, 1959, Bishop Rehring came to Lima to break ground on a new building to be constructed on South Cable Road. The $630,000 facility was designed to accommodate 650 students and included 23 classrooms, a chapel, gymnasium, cafeteria, laboratories and other general high school facilities. Two additional wings were added to the building in 1962, doubling its capacity. On September 18, 1960, Bishop Rehring returned once more to confer a solemn blessing on the new Lima Central Catholic High School. The Rev. Edward C. Herr was named Principal; the position in which he remained for two decades. Fr. Herr (who was named Monsignor in 1963) was followed as LCC principal by Daniel A. Rupert, who spent several years as Executive Coordinator for the school. He served as Principal until 1997. In August 1998, Fr. Dennis P. Hartigan became Pastor/President at Lima Central Catholic High School. Under his guidance a state of the art Technology Center was added as well as a new Athletic Center which included a gymnasium. In the winter of 2003 LCC played its first boys basketball game at home, on the LCC court. In June 2004, Fr. Todd M. Dominique was named the President of Lima Central Catholic High School. On July 1, 2006, Richard Mitterholzer assumed the Principal position at Lima Central Catholic High School. Richard's experience in the Bluffton School system and being a resident of a nearby community makes a natual fit for LCC.
